Building Blocks install begins

working at a fabric store with some older womenfolk… who most are sweet and some not so much i am learning a new kind of patience and Ive started an installation at work. concept=Garment Construction. something in honor of us who make our own clothes. It has been a treat everyday getting ready that I actually look forward to putting an outfit together – from “funky” to “male Nurse chic” :”) I am having some fun… and more is sure to come. First shot is the wallspace in question

I’m using a collection of old patterns that I knew one day I would use :”)… check it out. There will be some clothing up as well and hopefully my bosses will like it so much they will invite me to do some display work at the other locations :”)

I have always wanted a jumpsuit… redmoon theater in chicago actually turned me on to them :”) heres a schnazzier version though! i patchworked the yoke [originally a pillowcase that didnt sell] one lady descirbed it as “funky” – i’ll take it!

they got some awesome florals at pacific fabrics y’all! and dont let the piles and piles on the remnants tables dissuade you – there are gorgeous prints in there!!

It is so good for me here!

First of all… these prawns are it! cleaning them took me back to my Freedom days. Remember that Omar?!Gotta love a colorful setting :”) Today I found some plastic wares from Japan that make your rice into cute shapes :”) And that Fish is FRESH HALIBUT with a soy flour crust I made myself! Stephanie and Cathi? I made my baby a desk so he can do his internet thing… :”)…and a work table for his art making self!also one for me, covered in canvas for when i get dirty :”) i look forward to getting back in touch with the clay! all three of the tables were made with found pallets and alley wood!

Something to fill the time in between projects… desperately overworked stands for my Sake Sets. Made from the ends of found pallets… I made the table too long and so cut an end off, and voila! :”) Some upholstery tucks and string work. I think I’m gonna do them again and make a lamp out of it…. stay tuned.

Local meat from the PCC. I used the pulp from after juicing carrots to “beef” up the meat… it is such a great idea!!! So juicy!!!

It really can take a while to get anywhere with views like these… this is but a 10 minute walk from our place… that’s looking out West toward the OLYMPICS and the Puget Sound.

This chair, as lovely as it is… needs some help! This is the next project for sure!!! And I just heard of a place down the street from Pacific Feather Co. behind Pacific Iron and Metals… It’s called Pacific Fabrics :”) BIG LINEN REMNANT TABLE!!!

Pillow cases for the fam :”)and now a quilt for my newest niece Alana… who just turned 4 months :”) I miss her so much! and i can see why people get crazy with the patchwork.. it gets addicting!
the slugs will distract me though…
