at the burien community center, right next to a lovely little green space that includes a valley, a playground and gorgeous cedar trees on saturday evening i and many other artists will have art on display and for sale. half the proceeds go to us and the other half to the burien arts league or something like that. here are what i did for this years show… i was half into it and half ready to give in. i thought it would be so easy to get 10 panels that measure 8″x8″ and do whatever i want. i struggled with the idea of only getting $20 per piece, so i feel like i held back. in the end though i figure they are sketches for future pieces. come thru if you can and see all the work… should be interesting :”)
[por fin y mas se viene]. aqui tienen unos pixthe place i work work for now has two ft upholsterers..i draft, cut and sew for them… i miss the process. so ive taken homework from another store who coincidentally specializes in danish modern.

Work is going well. The fabric store has given me some great connections and has become quite the conduit for freelance work. From couch cushions, to slipcovers, clothing, costumes, drapes, pillows, car roof liners, vinyl bar stools and more…
I’m glad I invested in an industrial machine! Here’s to more and more work! Also, wish me luck everyone… I just went in for a casual interview with a vintage interiors place! Could be something real special if it works out!
Thank you to Carleen for the fabric samples. It was difficult to cut them, big as they were and well, they ended up as 400 4″ squares). [and some scrap destined for the back of momo] Looks to be a giant prayer shawl for my people out on the plains..let’s begin Keeping it in check is both calming and befuddling…. But Momo watches over us go
So.. here’s a spattering of the pantseses I’ve been making…
and here’s a hint at what i’m wearing tonight… to BAM Ignite. Supposedly the Bellevue Art Museum (yes, Bellevue; where the zombie apocalypse is most assuredly gonna happen, if not start) is hosting a dance party in honor of the High Fiber Diet show currently up. I’ve been told that it will be “a fun night and a huge gathering of all the fiber-wearable art-fabric junkie folks in the northwest. Our tribe will be in full force that night.”full pic to come…tmrw, so check back!
I have started an installation at work, concept being that of Garment Construction. We have loads of new fabrics [including Italian cottons, Wools, Cotton Couture] and I have been feeling very inspired to create something in honor of those of us who make our own clothes. It has been a treat everyday getting ready that I actually look forward to putting an outfit together – from “funky” to “male Nurse chic” :”) I am having fun… and more is sure to come. First shot is a before…
I’m using a collection of old patterns that I knew one day I would use :”)… check it out. There will be some clothing up as well and hopefully my bosses will like it so much they will invite me to do some display work at the other locations :”)
