we find ourselves with the overgrown laurel, the stoic pine, the shy maple, the sharp
blackberry, the pretty lilac, the willful locust and the helpful camellia… and we are grateful.
feeling inspired for an outdoor performance piece in the driftless region
Work is going well. The fabric store has given me some great connections and has become quite the conduit for freelance work. From couch cushions, to slipcovers, clothing, costumes, drapes, pillows, car roof liners, vinyl bar stools and more…
I’m glad I invested in an industrial machine! Here’s to more and more work! Also, wish me luck everyone… I just went in for a casual interview with a vintage interiors place! Could be something real special if it works out!
It is so good for me here!
First of all… these prawns are it! cleaning them took me back to my Freedom days. Remember that Omar?!Gotta love a colorful setting :”) Today I found some plastic wares from Japan that make your rice into cute shapes :”) And that Fish is FRESH HALIBUT with a soy flour crust I made myself! Stephanie and Cathi? I made my baby a desk so he can do his internet thing… :”)…and a work table for his art making self!also one for me, covered in canvas for when i get dirty :”) i look forward to getting back in touch with the clay! all three of the tables were made with found pallets and alley wood!
Something to fill the time in between projects… desperately overworked stands for my Sake Sets. Made from the ends of found pallets… I made the table too long and so cut an end off, and voila! :”) Some upholstery tucks and string work. I think I’m gonna do them again and make a lamp out of it…. stay tuned.
Local meat from the PCC. I used the pulp from after juicing carrots to “beef” up the meat… it is such a great idea!!! So juicy!!!
It really can take a while to get anywhere with views like these… this is but a 10 minute walk from our place… that’s looking out West toward the OLYMPICS and the Puget Sound.
The bluest Fairy lives down on 23rd!Those two bridges will take you to and bring you from Chicago :”) I-90 E and W.Pottery is sold here! I was texting with a fellow potter when I stumbled upon it. Will definitely be going back there when it’s open…
This chair, as lovely as it is… needs some help! This is the next project for sure!!! And I just heard of a place down the street from Pacific Feather Co. behind Pacific Iron and Metals… It’s called Pacific Fabrics :”) BIG LINEN REMNANT TABLE!!!
Pillow cases for the fam :”)and now a quilt for my newest niece Alana… who just turned 4 months :”) I miss her so much! and i can see why people get crazy with the patchwork.. it gets addicting!
the slugs will distract me though…
…some times, oft even, there are clear states. and much like life it self, ever changing, we are fated to come up against yet other… choices, if i may. it is within my experience that action and verve and if but for a hint of intention will come the glory. i speak about allotment in our particular conditions and all the roads afforded us, varied and strong, as they can be, are ours. we have but to choose. some hard. some not so hard. get on with it. though if you believe you need to “sit on it for a bit”, feel free. there is a strange and equally powerful beauty in the silence. in this eye, of this storm we call this day, this feeling, right now. enjoy that to. hold it if you must. then, let it go. there is sure to be more to see.
but what do i know? i can hold on with the best of them… though i shall continue to strive not to. my art and love in my life will save me. all the love out there, in me, on this road.
