being distracted by what is and is surrounding this new city of mine is an easy thing to do when the other option is but to continue the endless search and the filling out of applications. dare i say it – the job hunt continues. today though, while the revelers are in it to win it down and up on broadway i shall be in the midst of tree and peace. though to get there comes a marvelous wander…lets see where this goes this stroll of mine.
seems the Kubota Gardens is going to be in my future. I kept seeing scenes from memoirs of a geisha, though in my vision they were as cheesy as cheesy can get :”) though all the same, love and hope to one day have my own garden as winding and beautiful!today we are heading to the fremont fair..of which i will soon be hocking my own wares :”)
…some times, oft even, there are clear states. and much like life it self, ever changing, we are fated to come up against yet other… choices, if i may. it is within my experience that action and verve and if but for a hint of intention will come the glory. i speak about allotment in our particular conditions and all the roads afforded us, varied and strong, as they can be, are ours. we have but to choose. some hard. some not so hard. get on with it. though if you believe you need to “sit on it for a bit”, feel free. there is a strange and equally powerful beauty in the silence. in this eye, of this storm we call this day, this feeling, right now. enjoy that to. hold it if you must. then, let it go. there is sure to be more to see.
but what do i know? i can hold on with the best of them… though i shall continue to strive not to. my art and love in my life will save me. all the love out there, in me, on this road.
I know it has been quite a while since I’ve posted anything… but I get caught up in things and the updates tend to take a back seat to actuallities. Is that a word… my compu says NO. Anywho.. The last post was a picture of me working my ass off making cardboard tiles for a large corn crib installation up in Reedsburg, Wisconsin with the great Laura Annis. Here’s more on that:
Click that link above to see the piece head on :”) and complete!
And here is a better pic of the beautiful beautiful wonderful Wormfarm barn where I got work and sooo look forward to going back to. Thank you Donna and Jay! And you to Laura 🙂 and Katie and Katie and Terrence… all wonderful people!
The next big thing after that was my trip with the LOVE of my life to Washington State. Which is still calling to me! I can totally see myself moving there. There’s nothing like ancient woods, snow capped mountains, tidal pools and bald eagles! Chicago, I love you cause your my home and my Mom is here but Holy MOLY!! Here’s a picture of said mountain at just the right time and oh so majestic!
That state is definitely in my future :”) So many images we have you’d have to come over and we can do one of them sit downs and looks and talks :”) And maybe I can serve you drinks now that I am OFFICIALLY LICENSED TO BARTEND! That way it won’t seem so long going through 1,400 pictures of our trip :”)
Stay tuned for where I get my first job serving drinks and the stories that I know are sure to come!
So, first I’d like to thank everyone who made it out to the opening of Unfinished Business!
Pictures will be coming soon… I, in all the excitement, forgot my camera :”(
But it went well; people were sitting on the floor to weave, which I had some worries about, as I just assumed most wouldn’t be into it. But they did… get down and up :”) [thankfully]. Such a great feeling to see so many different people interact with my installation. Big thank you to Jane Addams Hull House! Especially Naomi Blumberg and Lisa Lee (who’s name is the bomb!) See you ladies soon!
Also, I just uploaded a list of exhibitions or an artist resume on my about page, so check that out if you wanna know more or less what I’ve done publicly. I’m sure I missed some things so if any of you collaborators or knowers know.. please feel free to fill a brother in.
And now the next project:
These lovelies are in Reedsburg, Wisconsin and I get to “decorate” them with fellow artist and close friend Laura Annis for this years Art D-Tour. Details to come soon. Please keep in mind the days to come up and see if you have the time and of course, want to. October 7-16th
